LigaSure-Assisted Submandibular Gland Excision in Deep-Plane Neck Lift: Review of 83 Patients

In brief. A review of 83 patients who had part of the submandibular gland removed during a deep-plane neck lift between 2018 and 2022, using LigaSure, a bipolar device that seals vessels and tissue. Over an average follow-up of 21 months there was no bleeding inside the gland, no haematoma and no sialoma. Three patients needed repeat seroma aspiration, and seven had temporary lower lip weakness that resolved within six months.

Low-Cost and Simple Frontal Sinus Surgical Cutting Guide Modeling for Anterior Cranioplasty in Facial Feminization Surgery: How To Do It

In brief. Describes a simple, low-cost cutting guide for forehead reshaping (anterior cranioplasty) in facial feminization surgery, designed with open-source software and using the patient's own frontal sinus as the reference. In a series of 16 patients operated between November 2018 and November 2020, no complications were reported, and FACE-Q satisfaction with the forehead and eyebrows was very high (mean score 22 of 24).

In brief. A technical letter written at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Cancer Institute Hospital of the Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research in Tokyo. It describes a needle-holding technique that makes it easier to place the second suture when sewing the back wall of a microvascular anastomosis.
