What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty refreshes the eyes by removing or repositioning excess skin and fat of the upper and/or lower eyelids — treating hooding that makes the eyes look tired or heavy, and under-eye bags. Incisions sit in the natural lid crease and just below the lash line, healing to near-invisible lines.
Eyes are read with the brow
Heaviness of the upper lids often comes partly from a descended brow. Treating the lid alone in that case gives a short-lived or incomplete result — which is why Dr. Cömert assesses the brow, lid and midface together, and combines a brow or temporal lift where it serves the outcome. In a full rejuvenation, eyelid surgery is frequently part of a deep plane facelift plan.
Natural results, protected function
The goal is a rested version of your own eyes — never a hollowed or surprised look. Conservative skin removal, fat repositioning rather than aggressive excision, and respect for lid support keep the result natural and the eyes comfortable.
Recovery, step by step
- Days 1–3: cool compresses; swelling and bruising peak then start settling.
- Days 5–7: fine sutures removed.
- Days 10–14: bruising has typically faded; comfortable in social settings, often earlier with glasses or light makeup.
- Months 1–3: scars fade into the natural creases.
